We are the largest student-run IT association at the University of Technology Sydney

Our society aims to inspire students to gain knowledge and insight into the IT industry by providing unique opportunities and experiences to our members.

In short, we’re made up of a bunch of students who are interested in tech and helping others become connected with the IT industry.

Every year, with the help of our events, hundreds of students from a range of backgrounds come together to socialise, develop their technical and professional skills, and get the most out of their university experience.

Join TechSoc to connect with our industry-leading sponsors, which include banks, consultancies and tech companies, through networking opportunities brought to you at our professional events. Expand your network, build connections and make friends through our workshops, inter-club and inter-university collaborations, and our social events.

Whether you’re a student with a keen interest in IT, or would simply like to extend your learning beyond the classroom, we'd love to see you at our events or chat with you on our Discord server! See why we won ActivateUTS' 2020 Club of the Year by becoming a member of our amazing society today!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this club for?

UTS TechSoc is for anyone who has an interest in IT and the ever-growing tech industry! You don’t need to be studying a technology degree to join either - our members come from a diverse range of degrees such as health, business, engineering and law.

What are the benefits of joining?

As a member of UTS TechSoc, you will have access to a variety of perks including: discounted ticket prices, news and exclusive opportunities from our industry sponsors, and priority entry to all of our events! (This includes our networking opportunities, start and end of semester parties, and our complimentary drinks nights!)

How much does membership cost?

Becoming a TechSoc member is only $5 for UTS students and staff, and $25 for the public.

Do I have to be a member to attend TechSoc events?

It depends on the event! Most of our online events are open to all UTS students, however our in-person events will generally require membership. If you are unsure as to whether membership is required, check out the Facebook event page as it will have all the information you need.

How can I join the TechSoc exec team?

The TechSoc Executive Team is selected annually. Applications to join our General Executive Committee typically open in late November every year, with the team recruited before the start of the next year. If you’re a first-year, applications to become a First-Year Representative will open at the end of Semester One. The TechSoc Management Executive Committee is elected in October or November every year, however you must have at least 3 months of experience as an executive to apply. All of our recruitment drives are advertised on our social media channels, so be sure to keep an eye out!
